Sight Seeing

Cherain is less than 10 minutes from the E25 highway between Liège and Bastogne and 20 minutes from the E42 highway between Liège and Germany (East Cantons). It is thus an ideal base for visits to the Ourthe Valley (Houffalize, La Roche), Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge museum and monuments), Vielsalm, the East Cantons (Sankt Vith and Malmedy), the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (tax-free shopping in Knauf Shopping at 13 km, Clervaux).

Gouvy is also where the Ravel route to Bastogne departs. This is an old, flat railroad bed accessible to cyclists and hikers. The Ravel Route connects Houffalize and Bastogne as well as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg which is nearby.

Those who enjoy kayaking can go on the Ourthe near Houffalize or La Roche or on the Amblève near Coo.

Skiing and cross-country skiing is possible some winters at Baraque de Fraiture, among others.

From Gouvy you can easily explore Luxembourg and Luxembourg City by train. Those who take the train 15 minutes away in the town of Troisvierges can explore all of Luxembourg by public transportation from there at very low rates.
